WWE Tough Enough winner Josh Bredl garnered a lot of heat on social media this week when he referred to the Social Outcasts group as “social jobbers.”
Bredl, known in NXT as Bronson Mathews, was criticized on Twitter by Social Outcasts members, Stardust, Kevin Owens, Taz and others following the Twitter incident.
According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, there is tremendous heat on Bredl backstage in WWE right now, more so than people might think. Bredl already had a certain amount of heat on him as he is under a $250,000 NXT contract, which is much more than other NXT talents are making, and he “earned” it by winning a contest.
Things could get interesting tomorrow night as most of the NXT crew will be backstage for the Royal Rumble PPV, and there are those in WWE who feel Bredl might be booked to appear in the Royal Rumble match in somewhat of a “hazing” capacity. As of Thursday, there was still talk of having Bredl possibly appear in the match, in what could be a similar situation to that of former Tough Enough winner Daniel Puder. For those of you who don’t remember, Puder had embarrassed Kurt Angle in a match following his Tough Enough win, and was subsequently booked in the 2005 Royal Rumble match only to be “punished” in the ring by Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit and Hardcore Holly.
The Rumble match was Puder’s final WWE TV appearance, and he was released later that year.
As reported, WWE have a poll up asking fans to vote for a superstar return, Goldberg is leading that poll with 34% of the votes. WWE have again posted another video that looks at Superstars who could return in the WWE Royal Rumble on Sunday – Bill Goldberg, Sting, Seth Rollins, Steve Austin, and Daniel Bryan.
