UPDATE: We have an update regarding Marty Scurll being involved in the recent NJPW Strong tapings (see original report below). According to a report from Fanbyte, Scurll was part of the tapings on January 22nd and was involved in a post-match spot with Rocky Romero.

According to Fanbyte’s source, “They weren’t trying to hide him. I thought we were going to be the company that wasn’t booking these guys to get some buzz. They’re going to get buzz alright, but probably not the kind they’re looking for. And it just reeks of letting things slide because these people are all friends or whatever. I really just think fans should know his involvement beforehand, so they can choose to tune in or not.”

Scurll last wrestled at ROH’s Gateway to Honor event on February 29th, 2020. He last competed in NJPW in the Spring of 2019 in the Best of the Super Juniors tournament.

ORIGINAL: Marty Scurll is looking to make a deal with NJPW that would see him rejoin the company. Fightful Select reported today that the former ROH star was backstage at a recent set of New Japan Pro Wrestling Strong tapings. They weren’t told whether Scurll had any involvement in the content on the show, but what was noted was Scrull’s interest in coming back to the promotion.

Scurll hasn’t worked for NJPW since June 2019 as a part of the Best of the Super Juniors tournament. He parted ways with ROH in January after he was implicated in the Speaking Out Movement in June 2020. There were allegations made against him from a woman who said Scurll sexually abused her in 2015 when she was 16 years old and intoxicated. Scurll was removed from the ROH roster back in October.

Scurll became the booker for ROH when he signed a new contract at the end of 2019. Delirious later took back then reigns as head booker for the promotion from Scurll when he went on hiatus. In June, ROH issued a statement noting they would be investigating claims made against wrestlers during the Speaking Out movement.
