UPDATE: As we reported earlier tonight (see original post below), former WWE play-by-play analyst Mauro Ranallo will be making his Impact Wrestling debut at Rebellion to call the “Title vs. Title” match featuring AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and Impact World Champion Rich Swann.
According to Pwinsider, the deal between Impact and Ranallo is basically a one-time only agreement, with the door being open for Ranallo to do more work for Impact down the road. The plan came together over the last several weeks, with Ranallo being brought in to add some prestige to the match. Ranallo was at Impact’s studio on Wednesday night doing voiceovers for a video package promoting the match.
ORIGINAL: According to a report from ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, former WWE NXT announcer Mauro Ranallo will be making his return to pro wrestling commentary, as he’ll be calling the Rich Swann vs. Kenny Omega main event at Impact Wrestling’s Rebellion event. The match between the two men will be for both the Impact and AEW World Championships. As of this writing, there is no word on if Ranallo’s deal is a one-time thing or if he’ll be sticking around longer.
Ranallo left WWE in August of 2020 and both sides reportedly parted ways on good terms.
Impact Rebellion takes place on April 25th and will air on pay-per-view.
