As noted, Saraya made her shocking debut in AEW after the Fatal-4-Way Women’s Championship match at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam. AEW President Tony Khan later confirmed that Saraya signed a full-time contract with the company.
The former WWE Superstar suffered a severe neck injury back in 2016. She would later be forced to retire at the young age of 25 after an accidental kick from Sasha Banks during a WWE live event.
According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Saraya still hasn’t been cleared to get physical in the ring “as of recently.” After the kick from Banks, the WWE medical staff disqualified her from wrestling, putting her on the “no touch” list in the company. Fans may’ve noticed that she didn’t get into a physical confrontation with anyone during her return at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam. The report does note that Saraya would like to get cleared, of course, and that she cites Bryan Danielson and Edge as examples of talent who were able to wrestle again after sustaining career-ending injuries.
