WWE recently revamped NXT with production upgrades, a new name and logo in addition to pushing younger stars with an edgier product as a way to improve overall viewership including the all-important 18-49 demographic viewership.
The backstage reaction of individuals at the USA Network has emerged thanks to Andrew Zarian of The Mat Men podcast. He noted that a USA Network source was disappointed with the recent ratings of the show.
A USA Network source told Zarian the following, “The is all to bring a new younger viewer who is connected with pop culture & trends. Needless to say, the demo numbers are disappointing but we are hopeful this is just a bump in the road”
This week’s episode of WWE NXT 2.0 was down in ratings for the third straight week. Next week’s show will include Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott defending his North American Championship against Santos Escobar and more.
Spoke to a source this morning regarding NXT's direction & what the expectations are.
