In a recent interview with Fightful, Starboy Charlie reflected on his GCW match against Matt Cardona this past December. According to Starboy, his victory against Cardona is the biggest highlight of his career to date.

You can check out some highlights and watch the complete interview below:

On what is was like for him to go up against Cardona: “That match was really awesome. I watched a lot of WWE growing up and one of the main guys on there, Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder, it was pretty surreal to me that I was wrestling someone that I grew up watching on TV. It was really awesome.”

On Cardona’s reaction after the match concluded: “He said something positive to me after my match. It was along the lines of, ‘good job. Keep going at it in this business, you’ll get far.’ It’s always overtoned by some cockiness and that Matt Cardona attitude. [Him saying something nice is] the real win for me.”

Last month, NJPW’s Yuji Nagata cemented his legacy as one of only five wrestlers to conquer Japan’s three most significant pro wrestling championships: NOAH’s GHC Heavyweight Title, NJPW’s IWGP Heavyweight Title, and AJPW’s Triple Crown Title.

Nagata will be defending the AJPW Triple Crown Championship next week, having won the title on February 19. Nagata recently spoke with NJPW about the hardships he had to face in order to make history.

You can check out some highlights from the interview below:

On the work necessary before being able to step up to win the Triple Crown: “It was a pretty hard road to get to that point though. Last year’s Real World Tag League, I hurt my left knee, and going into this I’d hurt my right. It was really tough for me to walk for a while, but I did all I could between Western and Eastern medicine to make it in time.”

On his attitude going in to fight for the title: “I just didn’t want to have a bad match, and we had all those fans on both mine and Miyahara’s side coming out. So to have that great reaction from the crowd, and then to take the title, that was definitely a huge relief.”
