AEW World Champion CM Punk appeared on the latest “Road To” video on AEW’s YouTube page, as he spoke about AEW President Tony Khan not letting him vacate the title despite his injury. Punk announced on AEW Rampage this past Friday that he will be out of action for an undisclosed amount of time due to a foot injury that he sustained during his match with Hangman Page at Double or Nothing. Punk will require surgery on his foot.
Punk said: “I wasn’t as clear as I should have been. I offered to relinquish the title and Tony told me that under no circumstances was I allowed to do that. It means a lot to me that this place as a whole believes in me enough to let me just go get fixed.”
