WWE’s Executive Chairman Vince McMahon would tell Superstars that they’re “dead money” if they made the slightest of errors, according to Freddie Prinze Jr.
The Scooby-Doo actor worked with WWE as part of the creative team during the late 2000s and has made appearances on TV.
During the latest “Wrestling With Freddie” podcast, Prinze Jr. said that AEW gives talent opportunities to make mistakes, something that wasn’t afforded to WWE Superstars while he was there. He said,
“If you mess up [in AEW,] that’s okay, you’re going to get it right next week. And in WWE, if you mess up, that’s it, your story’s over. Period. It’s literally end of story.
“Vince. I used to hear him say it all the time. If somebody messed up a spot, he’d go, ‘Well that’s dead money.’ And I would just be like, ‘Yo, they made a mistake. In TV and film, we get take two.’ This is live. Stuff screws up.”
