On the latest episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling’s “Legion of RAW” podcast, former WWE head writer Vince Russo commented on John Cena and Austin Theory’s segment on this past Monday’s episode of RAW.

Russo criticized Cena for his quip about fake crowd noise being piped in for Theory’s matches and segments, saying that it does more harm to the company itself than the heel. He said,

“Bro, Cena saying that [piped in crowd noise] buries the company. Like, seriously, you’re telling people that these stars aren’t over, so you’re piping in crowd noise. I mean, that does more damage to the company than it does to Theory… Let’s be honest, they think today’s wrestling is a joke. They may like somebody, like a couple of people, but all and all [they don’t].”

Russo also claimed that at this point, veterans like John Cena essentially think that the Superstars from the current generation do not have the ability to get themselves over. He added,

“Cena is watching them pipe in crowd noise and Cena is living the moment when he went out there and what the crowd is like. You don’t think Cena is sitting at home like, ‘Really, bro, you guys have no idea how to get yourselves over.’ The veterans feel that way, they just ain’t gonna say it out of respect for the business… He’s basically saying, “During our days nobody was piping in crowd noise.”

During the segment, Austin Theory laid out a challenge to John Cena for his United States Championship at WrestleMania 39. While Cena initially refused, he ultimately ended up accepting the challenge, but not before verbally annihilating the champion.

Austin Theory (c) vs. John Cena for the United States Championship is now official for WrestleMania 39.
