Vince Russo – ‘Tony Khan Is Paying For AEW’s TV Time’

On a recent edition of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Vince Russo opined that AEW President Tony Khan is personally financing AEW to remain on the Warner Bros. Discovery network.

Russo highlighted the lack of audience growth for AEW’s programming, concluding that the sole reason AEW doesn’t have to worry about broadcast slots is because Khan is personally financing them.

Russo said, “Any other show in television that did not increase their ratings over four years would be gone. They would be gone. I’m gonna go back to my original theory — there’s no question in my mind that Tony Khan is paying for TV time. The dude’s a billionaire, he wants these shows on the network, he’s going to the network and saying, ‘What do you guys think you can make through advertising, etc.? Ok, no problem, I’ll double it.’”

For what it’s worth, AEW Dynamite is consistently ranked #1 – #3 on cable TV on Wednesday nights so Russo seems a bit delusional here.
