On Wednesday’s edition of WWE NXT, Tommaso Ciampa defeated Marcel Barthel in singles competition. WALTER made a surprise return following the match, as he came down to ringside and took out Ciampa, which ended in a triple-team attack by WALTER and The Imperium.
Originally, the plan was to have a tag-team match pitting Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher vs. Barthel and Aichner, but Thatcher was not used on the show. The rumor heading into NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver is to have a match between WALTER and Ciampa, or some type of a multi-man match.
WALTER is set to appear during Thursday’s NXT UK broadcast to issue a statement, likely explaining his return to the United States. WALTER has not wrestled since retaining his title over Heritage Cup Champion A-Kid on the January 14th NXT UK episode. WALTER’s last victory was over Ilja Dragunov on the October 29nd, 2020 NXT UK episode.
