Despite many complaints, it is now official – WALTER’s new WWE ring name is “Gunther” as it can be seen on his WWE.com profile.
It appears that WWE decided to not go with the full “Gunther Stark” name, with Stark being dropped after many noted that the name was shared with a former Nazi German commander.
The Austrian wrestler, who has been using his former ring name for most of his career and is the longest reigning NXT UK Champion of all time, wrestled his first match as a member of the NXT 2.0 brand last night. After defeating Roderick Strong, he proclaimed his new name, which became a big topic of discussion online.
