As many of you know by now, former WWE Superstar Rhino apparently made a surprise appearance at Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary PPV event in July. He showed up at the event, wearing a mask, and hit a spear on Michael Elgin. There are reports that he wore the mask because he was still under WWE contract at the time. His WWE contract expired 10 days after Slammiversary.

While there were also some reports that WWE signed off on Rhino’s Slammiversary appearance before his contract expired so that Rob Van Dam could appear on the RAW Reunion show, that is not the case and there was no such deal.

One source within Impact Wrestling claims the person who hit the spear in the mask wasn’t the real Rhino but Impact officials wanted everyone to think it was. Impact officials reportedly are happy that they were able to trick people into thinking it was, as the masked man hit the Gore and used Rhino’s mannerisms.
