Will Ospreay Returns With ‘Real’ World Title, Declares War on LA Dojo 【NJoA】

Ospreay declares himself medically cleared, carries ‘real’ IWGP World Heavyweight title.

The crowd at Resurgence were met with a huge surprise on August 14, as Will Ospreay hit the ring with a diatribe for New Japan Pro-Wrestling at large. Ospreay announced to the crowd in attendance and watching around the world that he was medically cleared to return to action, but with the G1 Climax soon approaching, that he would not be part of the tournament of tournaments.

Citing ‘disgust’ that he was stripped of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship for needing time off when ‘Jon moxley was US champion and didn’t defend for a year,’ Ospreay stated that he would not be back in a Japanese ring until current IWGP World heavyweight Champion Shingo Takagi is publicly declared an ‘interim’ champion. The Commonwealth Kingpin went on to state that he was the ‘real world champion’, producing his own title belt.

Ospreay declared that he was willing to defend his title anywhere, but quickly shut down chants of ‘AEW’. Ospreay vowed to make NJPW STRONG his new home, and called out the ‘weak’ members of the LA Dojo, ‘fragile Karl Fredericks’ in particular. As he continued to decry the level of talent carrying the NJPW STRONG brand, Ospreay was quickly confronted by Fredericks, Clark Connors and TJP, who were held back by staff before Ospreay beat a retreat. As Ospreay appears to be in the United States for the foreseeable, his world class people skills are already seeing a wave of new enemies in front of him, as well as likely furious figures back in Japan.
