AEW star William Regal has confirmed several reports that WWE wanted to sign three AEW talents to the NXT brand prior to the direction of the show being changed.
During a recent interview with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, Regal confirmed that he was “planning to sign Daniel Garcia, Ricky Starks, and Wheeler Yuta to NXT before WWE ‘changed directive.”
There were reports in August of 2021 that Yuta, who had a tryout with WWE in May of 2020, was a person the company considered a “slam dunk” to be signed. Instead, he was passed on.
