Sumo wresting legend and the man who defeated the Big Show at WrestleMania 21, Akebono had a serious medical issue this past week. Akebono was reportedly placed in a medically induced coma and is expected to be in the hospital for at least 10 days. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio reported that the former NJPW star was taken to the hospital after a show in Fukuoaka, Japan for the DDT promotion.
Akebono, along with his WrestleMania 21 match against The Big Show has wrestled the likes of Brock Lesnar and Shinsuke Nakamura.
