A feud between former tag team partners and champions The Miz and John Morrison had been in the works prior to the latter’s release last year.
In late 2019, Morrison returned to WWE and aligned with The Miz, before being released in November 2021.
Speaking to NBC Sports Boston, Morrison explained how the A-Lister’s non-WWE projects derailed their plans.
“We were going to feud, but he missed a couple of Raws before he left for Dancing with the Stars, so that never happened.
“I don’t know if the reason for that is public. But, that never happened and that’s why I was left in limbo, and then.. anyway, I don’t even want to get into it.”
The Miz was on the hit dance show’s 30th season, teaming with Witney Carson but was the seventh team eliminated.
Since his release, Morrison has competed for AAA, PROGRESS, GCW and AEW.
