During Tuesday’s Q2 earnings call, WWE confirmed former Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis’ release from the company. The confirmation came from Chief Financial and Administrative Officer Frank Riddick.
In addition to Laurinaitis’ release, Riddick also confirmed that Vince McMahon has “resigned” from the company and that the former WWE CEO would be paying for the cost incurred into the company’s investigation following the discovery of uncounted payments made by him. Riddick noted that $1.7 million was spent on the investigation, including anything else that was paid that wasn’t covered by insurance.
Vince McMahon announced his retirement on July 22nd before SmackDown. Following Vince’s retirement, WWE announced that Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan would both assume the CEO role.
