Welcome to the WWE Crown Jewel PPV! We get an intro video package to hype the matches that will be taking place tonight. Our opening contest is on the pre-show, a WWE United States Title match between Rusev and defending champion Shinsuke Nakamura:
Rusev begins working on Nakamura in the corner, and hits him with a suplex for a two count. Nakamura fires back now, hitting a drop kick for a two count of his own. Nakamura powers Rusev down to the ground and begins delivering knees to Rusev’s body while in a headlock. Rusev gets to his feet and begins to fight back, but Nakamura locking in the headlock even tighter now, and Rusev drops back to a knee, and further down to his stomach.
Rusev finally powers out with a face plant. Rusev counters Nakamura’s strikes and is firing up now. Bit clotheslines from Rusev and the crowd is eating it up. Spinning heel kick from Rusev, who misses another kick, and after some reversals from both men, lands a high kick for a two count. Rusev stomping on Nakamura now, but the United States Champion hits Rusev with a kick, which brings Rusev to his knees. Running knee to the face from Nakamura for a two count.
Nakamura comes off the middle rope but eats a superkick from Rusev for a two count. Rusev goes for the Accolade, but Nakamura gets to the ropes before he can lock it in. Kick to the back of the neck by Nakamura, who goes to the top rope and hits a knee to the back of Rusev’s head. Nakamura gets the two count and goes to the corner to call for the Kinshasa. Nakamura goes for it, but Rusev reverses into the Accolade.
Nakamura almost gets to the ropes, but Rusev releases the hold to drag Nakamura back away from the ropes, however, upon attempting to lock in the Accolade again, Nakamura uses his head to low blow Rusev. Once Rusev turns back around, Nakamura hits the Kinshasa for the three count and the win.
We kick off the main card with WWE Hall Of Famer Hulk Hogan making his first WWE TV appearance in several years. He will serve as the host for tonight’s Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. Hogan talks about how good it feels to be back in front of the WWE Universe again. Hogan says the show starts right now and keeps his statement very brief. A few ear gestures to the crowd and they’re loving it.
First Round WWE World Cup Tournament match: Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Orton:
Mysterio is face planted by Orton early, but he shoots up quickly and responds with some leg kicks. Orton tosses Mysterio over the top rope, but Mysterio hangs on for a shoulder to Orton’s rips. Mysterio comes off the springboard but eats a nice dropkick on the way down from Orton for a two count. Orton tosses Mysterio on the top rope before stomping at his stomach after he fell to the canvas.
Orton sets Mysterio up on the top rope facing the crowd. Orton tries to take off Mysterio’s mask but eats some elbows in response. Orton back on the attack now and sets up for a superplex. Mysterio resists and delivers some shots to Orton’s body. A headbutt knocks Orton off the top, and Mysterio comes off the top rope to hit Orton, quickly hits the ropes for a cross body and a bulldog for a two count. More leg kicks from Mysterio, but Orton catches won, but then eats a kick to the face.
Orton falls into the second rope, Mysterio goes for the 619, but is caught and gets hit with Orton’s signature DDT. Orton teasing the RKO now. Mysterio counters into a roll-up pin, and he gets it for the three count! Orton is stunned. An angry Orton hits Mysterio with an RKO and the crowd is booing.
Winner: Rey Mysterio
Orton teases leaving the ring but then proceeds to completely assault Mysterio all around the ring area. Mysterio is helped to the back, his status for the rest of the tournament is unclear.
First Round WWE World Cup Tournament match: Jeff Hardy vs. The Miz:
Miz starts with a side headlock, but Hardy tosses him into the ropes but eats a shoulder as he comes back. Hardy taking control now, tosses Miz into the corner but misses on a dive. Miz looks for an early Skull Crushing Finale, but Hardy counters into a roll-up pin for two. Hardy now bashing Miz’s head into each turnbuckle in the corner.
Miz fights back with a kick that knocks Hardy down. He now headlocks Hardy and is grinding away. Jeff gets to his feet and breaks free with elbows. Miz reverses Hardy for a neckbreaker and a two count. Miz delivers some dropkicks to Hardy in the corner, and eats a big clothesline as he comes in for a third. Hardy attacking now, atomic drop for Hardy into a leg drop for a two count.
Whisper in the wind catches Miz in the head for a two and a half count. Miz back in control now, goes for the Figure Four but is rolled-up for a two count by Hardy. Hardy tosses Miz outside the ring and hits a dropkick outside. Hardy then runs off the barricade and flies into Miz. Hardy on the top rope but Miz rolls out of the way. Hardy jumps down but rolled-up by Miz, however, the count stops because the referee caught Miz trying to use the ropes.
Hardy responds with a roll-up of his own, but it’s no good. Hardy goes for the Twist Of Fate, but Miz reverses into the Skull Crushing Finale. Miz gets the three count and the win.

First Round WWE World Cup Tournament match: Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins vs. Bobby Lashley:
Lashley tosses Rollins down early and flexes. Some chops and strikes from Rollins early. Lashley fires back now and tosses Rollins into the ropes. Rollins with a flying kick that forces Lashley to roll out the ring. Rollins looks to go for an outside dive, but Lashley zooms back into the ring and hits a chokeslam for a two count. Lashley grinding away at Rollins on the mat now.
Rollins back to his feet now and breaks free, but Lashley is back on the attack, smashing Rollins’ head into the turnbuckle. Lashley tosses Rollins into another corner and dives into his midsection for a two count. Lashley again grinds away at Rollins on the mat. Full Nelson on Rollins on their feet, and Lashley hits a DDT. Vertical suplex from Lashley, but Rollins fights out of it with a knee. Rollins clotheslines Lashley out of the ring, and hits a suicide dive on Lashley, and goes back for another one just for good measure.
