WWE Crown Jewel Results: World Cup 1st Round- Kurt Angle vs. Dolph Ziggler


The following is from our play-by-play coverage of the WWE Crown Jewel PPV event:

First Round WWE World Cup Tournament match: WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle vs. Dolph Ziggler

Amature wrestling from Ziggler and Angle off the bat. Very fun stuff, but Angle is clearly besting Ziggler in the exchange. Angle with a big takedown early and Ziggler finds himself in a rear-naked choke position on Angle. Angle powers up and tosses Ziggler into the ropes. Ziggler with a big shoulder and comes right into a belly to belly suplex from Angle. Big German Suplex from Angle now, and he hits another. Angle goes for a third but Ziggler uses the ropes to escape.

Angle going for a German Suplex off the apron, but Ziggler is holding on for dear life. Angle eats an elbow and is knocked off the apron. Angle gets tossed shoulder first into the steel steps. Ziggler tosses Angle back into the ring. Ziggler with a neck breaker for a two count. Rear-naked choke for Ziggler now. Angle fights out with some elbows, but Ziggler again reverses and jumps on Angle’s back for another sleeper hold. Angle backs into the corner and slings Ziggler off his back. Angle hits Ziggler with the Three Amigos for a two count.

Ziggler reverses out of the Angle Slam and hits a huge DDT for a two count. Ziggler misses the Famouser, and gets hit with an Angle Slam for the two count. Angle goes for the Ankle Lock, but Ziggler powers out and hits the Famouser for a close two count. Zig Zag reversed by Angle, and a roll-up attempt lands Ziggler in the Ankle Lock. Ziggler reverses out of it and is hoping on his ankle. Angle runs at Ziggler and misses, hitting the turnbuckle. Zigler capitalizes and hits the Zig Zag for the three count. Ziggler’s ankle is still bothering him, but he’s the victor nonetheless.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler
