The following is from our play-by-play coverage of the WWE Crown Jewel PPV event:
Semi-Finals WWE World Cup Tournament match: The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio:
Mysterio with a leg kick to Miz to start things off. Miz gets a roll-up for a one count, goes for another, and eats a knee to the face from Mysterio for a one count. Big knee to the body from Miz, who tosses Mysterio out of the ring, but lands on his feet. Miz out and Mysterio in the ring, who hits a dropkick followed by a sliding splash form Mysterio onto Miz outside of the ring. Mysterio gets Miz back inside and works on him in the corner.
Miz reverses a running attack from Mysterio and slams him to the ground. Miz gets a two count and now goes for a modified bow and arrow submission. Leg kick from Mysterio and he runs into a knee to the gut. Miz working on Mysterio on the mat, but Mysterio bites Miz’s fingers to escape. Miz now tosses Mysterio out of the ring. Back in the ring now, Miz is stretching out Mysterio’s abdomen. Mysterio reverses out and hits a DDT, and now both men are down.
Both men exchanging now, and Mysterio hits a crossbody for a two count. Miz sent into the turnbuckle and Mysterio flips Miz into the second rope. Miz escapes the 619 and hits the Skull Crushing Finale. However, Mysterio kicks out at a close two count. Miz now hitting YES! Kicks on Mysterio. Mysterio hits a roll-up that is good for two. Now Mysterio sets up Miz for the 619 and hits it. From Splash from Mysterio is blocked as Miz gets his knees up, and pins Mysterio for the three count.
Winner: The Miz
