The following is from our play-by-play coverage of the WWE Crown Jewel PPV event:
First Round WWE World Cup Tournament match: Jeff Hardy vs. The Miz:
Miz starts with a side headlock, but Hardy tosses him into the ropes but eats a shoulder as he comes back. Hardy taking control now, tosses Miz into the corner but misses on a dive. Miz looks for an early Skull Crushing Finale, but Hardy counters into a roll-up pin for two. Hardy now bashing Miz’s head into each turnbuckle in the corner.
Miz fights back with a kick that knocks Hardy down. He now headlocks Hardy and is grinding away. Jeff gets to his feet and breaks free with elbows. Miz reverses Hardy for a neckbreaker and a two count. Miz delivers some dropkicks to Hardy in the corner, and eats a big clothesline as he comes in for a third. Hardy attacking now, atomic drop for Hardy into a leg drop for a two count.
Whisper in the wind catches Miz in the head for a two and a half count. Miz back in control now, goes for the Figure Four but is rolled-up for a two count by Hardy. Hardy tosses Miz outside the ring and hits a dropkick outside. Hardy then runs off the barricade and flies into Miz. Hardy on the top rope but Miz rolls out of the way. Hardy jumps down but rolled-up by Miz, however, the count stops because the referee caught Miz trying to use the ropes.
Hardy responds with a roll-up of his own, but it’s no good. Hardy goes for the Twist Of Fate, but Miz reverses into the Skull Crushing Finale. Miz gets the three count and the win.
Winner: The Miz
