WWE Describes A Recent AEW Match As “Gory Self-Mutilation” In Toronto Star Article

A comment WWE made in the Toronto Star is destined to make the fans talk for quite some time.

To describe the differences between them and AEW, WWE mentioned the recent street fight that saw Anna Jay and Tay Conti defeat Penelope Ford and The Bunny, writing “If you look at the gory self-mutilation that bloodied several women in the December 31 event on TNT, it quickly becomes clear that these are very different businesses.”

The match was very violent and reminded many of the bloody ‘Lights Out’ match between Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker at the beginning of the year, while WWE’s comments are similar to when Vince McMahon referred to AEW as “blood and guts”.

Blood and Guts eventually became the name of a Dynamite special that featured AEW’s version of the “WarGames match”.
