WWE booked WWE Champion Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler in a top match featured on the card for Sunday’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view event in Orlando, Florida at the WWE Performance Center. The stipulation for the contest was that it was an Extreme Rules Match only for Ziggler.
McIntyre got some early offense, but eventually, Ziggler started to introduce and use weapons to beat down the champion. After a few minutes went by, McIntyre hit a few moves before Ziggler locked in a rear-naked choke. They brawled to the floor and McIntyre sent Ziggler into the barricade. Ziggler hit the Zig Zag for a near fall. Ziggler hit an elbow drop off the top rope onto McIntyre through a table on the floor. Back in the ring, McIntyre hit the claymore kick for the win.
Winner: Drew McIntyre – STILL Champion
What a concept.
This #WWEChampionship bout will be an #ExtremeRules Match … for @HEELZiggler ONLY!
If @DMcIntyreWWE does anything outside the rules of a normal singles match, we'll have a NEW #WWEChampion. pic.twitter.com/pPjojItddh
