The originally planned dark match after this week’s edition of SmackDown had to be changed during the show due to Big E’s neck injury.

During the broadcast, the former WWE Champion suffered a broken neck after taking a belly-to-belly suplex outside the ring.

Fightful Select reports that Big E was meant to be in the post-SmackDown dark main event where the New Day would’ve faced Sheamus, Ridge Holland and Butch.

This match was scrapped during SmackDown and the post-show main event saw Drew McIntyre face Austin Theory instead.

McIntyre got the pinfall victory after a Claymore kick on Theory.
