WWE Hall of Famer Gerald Brisco has said WWE hesitated on signing Brock Lesnar due to the amount the future World Champion was asking for.
Brisco is credited as the one who scouted Lesnar, who signed with WWE in 2000 and debuted on the main roster in 2002.
Speaking to Sportskeeda, Brisco explained the resistance behind signing the Beast:
“There was resistance. I don’t know… Brock was asking for a lot of money. And looking back it seems kinda silly with the numbers. He was looking for six-figures to sign on, which nowadays is almost ridiculous.
“I was getting complaints from the budget guy that this guy is going to kill our entire developmental budget with one guy.”
After debuting, Lesnar went on to have an incredible rookie year, becoming a two-time WWE Champion, King of the Ring and Royal Rumble winner within his first 12 months.
Lesnar, now a ten-time World Champion, will challenge Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Summerslam 2022.
