WWE Hall Of Famer Says ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin Shouldn’t Headline WrestleMania 38

WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray has come out against the idea of ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin’s in-ring segment with Kevin Owens headlining WrestleMania: Saturday.

It’s been reported that Owens and Austin will close out the April 2 event, marking the first time ever that a WrestleMania doesn’t end with a match.

Their segment will be a special edition of the KO Show, Owens’ talk show and internal listings have said it will lead to a “fight sequence” but not a match.

On Busted Open Radio, Ray said that no matter if it’s a match or not, Austin shouldn’t headline over younger full-time talent:

“If you’re going to announce it as a match, you have to announce it obviously as his last time ever. I don’t agree with you saying that it should be the main event of Night 1. You can’t put that match on last, in my eyes. That is a direct kick in the a*s to the talent that’s there now.”

“Even Steve Austin would tell you, ‘No, I should not go on last.’ The women should go on last or any other main event… you know what, forget about man or woman. Whatever main event that’s been built, that has earned the right to go on last. But not Steve and Kevin.”

Bully Ray added that if a match does happen, Owens should win as it will “mean more” for him than the WWE Hall of Famer.

WrestleMania 38 will take place from April 2-3 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
