WWE Has Reportedly Stopped Fining Superstars For Smoking Marijuana

WWE has reportedly stopped fining Superstars $2,500 for smoking marijuana according to a source within the company.

In WWE’s policy on substances, the use of marijuana is prohibited with the following explanation:

“In the event of any positive test for marijuana, the WWE Talent shall be fined Two Thousand Five Hundred US Dollars ($2,500.00) per positive test, which shall be deducted from the WWE Talent’s downside guarantee.”

One anonymous WWE Superstar told Wrestling Inc that while Superstars are still “tested for everything,” that they are no longer punished for using marijuana.

They added that before the policy was redacted, RAW Tag Team Champion Randy Orton was an integral figure in influencing a change on the main roster.

Others who called for the change include RAW Tag Team Champion Riddle and Kona Reeves, who was released in August 2021.

The topic of marijuana in wrestling has been a point of contention for years, with Bret Hart speaking against anti-marijuana rules in the 1990s, saying the drug is far safer for wrestlers on the road than alcohol or painkillers.
