WWE may be preparing to debut a new World Championship to abide with the new rules for Money in the Bank.
During a vignette that first aired at WrestleMania: Backlash, it was said that the winners of the two MITB ladder matches will earn the chance to headline WrestleMania.
This will mean that two people will be viable challengers at WrestleMania, as in addition to the men’s and women’s MITB ladder matches, next January will see men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches.
Speaking on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that WWE’s only solution may be to have two World Championships, one for both male Superstars (the ladder match winner and the Rumble winner) to compete for:
“There’s only one men’s title, but I guess that means maybe there will be a second men’s title by the time we’re at WrestleMania, which doesn’t surprise me. Everyone knew that it was a matter of time before they went back to two.”
