Drew McIntyre almost didn’t work the number one contender’s match last Friday on WWE SmackDown where the winner would earn themselves a shot against GUNTHER at WrestleMania 39 for the Intercontinental Title.
Among the competitors were Sheamus, Karrion Kross, Xavier Woods, and LA Knight. It came down to a draw as McIntyre and Sheamus pinned two different competitors simultaneously. WWE official Adam Pearce later ruled that both men would square off one-on-one this coming Friday night to determine GUNTHER’s opponent.
Pwinsider is reporting that McIntyre was very sick throughout last week, leading to a risk of him being pulled from the bout. Once he got to the venue and was examined, he was cleared to wrestle.
