According to Pwinsider.com, Crazzy Steve stated today he was accepting independent bookings “for a limited time.” WWE wants to sign him, and he recently opted out of his Impact deal. The site also reports that Impact had the legal option to renew his contract for an additional year, though opted to let him go when he asked for a release. It was said that Steve was well liked, and it was an amicable departure.
The site also says that they’ve heard from multiple sources that WWE officials are telling talents that are leaving contracts with other promotions that they’ll not enter into discussions with them for at least 90 days.
This falls in line with the report at the end of March; ROH got WWE to back off of several deals/contract offers via threatening them with tampering charges. The deals included the following: Donovan Dijak, Ray Rowe, Kyle O’Reilly, and Bobby Fish.
The site believes that Steve may be taking independent dates for 90-days and then he will sign with WWE.
