As we reported last night here on eWn, WWE NXT is expected to move to Tuesday nights following WrestleMania 37. As of now, the date for the move is set for April 13. Obviously, this would bring an end to the “Wednesday Night Wars”.
According to Bryan Alvarez, the decision to move NXT to Tuesday is a “done deal” internally at the USA Network. Numerous employees were informed of the change earlier this week. The move is being done due to NBCUniversal shutting down their NBC Sports Network. With that being said, NHL programming will be coming to the USA Network on Wednesday nights. As you’d expect, those games draw much higher ratings than WWE NXT and generate more in the way of advertising revenue. If NXT’s numbers were hitting a certain threshold, the show wouldn’t be moving off of Wednesday.
As of this writing, WWE and the USA Network have not officially announced the move.
