Talk backstage at this week’s edition of NXT TV was dominated by reports of a potential sale to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This week it was reported that WWE has been purchased by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund, which is overseen by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that talk of the potential sale left NXT talent fearful for the future this week.

“Everyone was talking about it, inside wrestling. Everyone at the NXT tapings who was here heard the rumors, and everyone was scared whether it was their jobs, there was a lot of uncertainty there, uncertainty in the company.”

It has been clarified that WWE has not been purchased by the Saudis yet, though it remains a possibility.

This week’s episode of WWE NXT was the brand’s New Year’s Evil event and saw Bron Breakker retain the NXT Championship against Grayson Waller in the main event.
