The following is from our play-by-play coverage of the WWE NXT TakeOver 31 event:
WWE NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar vs. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott
They did some technical wrestling to kick things off. Scott hit a dive off the top rope to the floor then hit a dive over the top rope to follow up. Scott worked over the left wrist of the champion. Escobar sent Scott into the barricade after hitting an outside dive.
Scott fired back with a clothesline then a splash in the corner followed by an elbow drop. Scott with a kick to the face. Ashante Adonis ran down to the ring to chase off the rest of the faction that is led by Escobar.
Back in the ring, Escobar hit the Phantom Driver for 2. Scott hit three suplexes then a 450 splash off the top rope. Escobar connected with a facebuster after Scott hit his head on the ring post for the win.
Winner: WWE NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar
