The following is from our play-by-play coverage of the WWE NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff event at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales:
WWE NXT UK Title Match: WALTER © vs. Tyler Bate
They lock up as the crowd is strongly invested in this match. WALTER secured a headlock to wear down the challenger. Bate stunned him with a suplex and WALTER rolled to the floor to regroup. Back in the ring, Bate hit a hurricanrana then went for an outside dive but WALTER caught him and hit a powerbomb on the apron. WALTER connected with a big boot then hit a powerbomb sending him into the ring post.
WALTER worked over the jaw of Bate and then applied a surfboard. WALTER put him on the top rope and stretched him. They did a suplex spot from the apron to the floor. Back in the ring, WALTER hit a big chop to the back of Bate and then locked in a boston crab but Bate wouldn’t give up. Bate went for a suplex but WALTER cut him off and went for his own. Bate turned it and hit one of his own. Bate landed a series of uppercuts then clotheslines. Bate went for a german suplex and hit an exploder instead.
Bate with a standing shooting star press for 2. Bate went for a piledriver but WALTER blocked it. WALTER with a big drop kick then went for a powerbomb but Bate reverse and hit a powerbomb of his own for 2. They battled on the top rope and Bate teased a suplex to the floor but WALTER chopped him down. Bate fired back with a flying headbutt and an exploder suplex off the middle rope. They trade shots before WALTER knocked him down with a big chop. Bate with a big strike but WALTER fell on him. WALTER went for a powerbomb but Bate kicked him in the face. Bate with the airplane spin then put him on the top rope where he hit a powerslam.
WALTER rolled to the floor and Bate took him out with a dive through the ropes. Bate with a german suplex for 2. Bate went for his finisher but WALTER fell on him for 2. Bate hit his finisher for the near fall. Bate went to the top rope and hit a dive for 2. WALTER hit a reverse german suplex on the apron.
Back in the ring, WALTER hit a major league powerbomb for a 1 count. WALTER with a big clothesline for the win.
