Prior to the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view event, WWE had announced 27 names as confirmed to be appearing in the men’s Royal Rumble match. Of course, WWE later announced that Bobby Lashley and Rusev were pulled from the match after brawling in the parking lot. Also, Buddy Murphy, Otis, and Tucker did not appear and WWE didn’t explain their absences. As previously reported here on eWn, Roman Reigns was originally planned to win the men’s Royal Rumble match, while Shayna Baszler was planned to win the women’s Royal Rumble match. Those plans were changed very late in the day.
