The cultural differences in Saudi Arabia have been very well documented since WWE’s initial relations with the country. Women are not typically used on the card and have been completely absent during WWE’s last two trips to the middle east. There were no women matches on WWE Greatest Royal Rumble or Crown Jewel.
However, Renee Young did take part in the commentary duties on the show. During the Crown Jewel program, however, Deadspin reporter David Bixenspan noticed something interesting about a WrestleMania 35 advertisement. It did not feature any females on the promo for “The Show Of Shows.” Tweeted out a video comparing the commercial to the same advertisement that ran earlier in the week, which did feature the women.
Check it out here:
Hmm, there’s a difference between the WrestleMania promo that aired on Raw/SmackDown and the one from #WWECrownJewel, which is inset…something’s missing, some kind of de-evolution. Can’t put my finger on it, though. pic.twitter.com/zFn2PWRCL4

WWE has taken a lot of heat for leaving women off their Saudi Arabian shows. Especially with their big push for the Women’s Evolution. WWE held its first-ever all-female pay-per-view (PPV) last week, “Evolution.” The timing of the PPV, however, is interesting considering it was right before a show in which no women were allowed to compete.
