Former WWE Superstar Athena has said that Superstars were banned from talking about or watching anything associated with AEW.
Athena, known as Ember Moon in WWE, was released in November 2021 after returning to NXT.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Moon talked about the Wednesday Night Wars, and how NXT Superstars would watch AEW programming, but the WWE quickly put a stop to that:
“I was seeing everything going on at AEW and I was like, ‘That looks fun. That looks like what I thought I was going to do.’ For a while, we couldn’t even talk about it backstage because they were like, ‘You shouldn’t be watching the competitor.’ I was like, ‘How do you expect us to outshine them?’”
Since leaving WWE, Athena has competed for Warrior Wrestling and won the promotion’s Women’s Champion last Sunday at Warrior Wrestling 21.
