WWE Royal Rumble News – The Backstage Mood, Vince McMahon’s Absence

The 2023 WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view event emanated on January 28th from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Fightful Select reports that Vince McMahon was not backstage at the Alamodome and the process of the Rumble itself was said to be the easiest it has been in quite a while. There were fewer last-minute changes, unlike in previous years.

A rule was implemented for the 2022 Royal Rumble that banned any NXT talent from competing in either the Men’s or Women’s Royal Rumble matches.

The 2023 Royal Rumble was described as “a dream” compared to the extremely hectic situation at the 2022 show. Although many NXT Superstars weren’t used on the show, the talents from the gold brand were optimistic after the ban was lifted this year.

The atmosphere in WWE is also reportedly more relaxed on a day-to-day basis and one of the few reminders of Mr. McMahon is the “Vince’s office” directional sign that has been there since long before he retired last year, though it now points to a different section of the backstage area. According to a backstage source, there isn’t a sense of anyone being afraid of bringing him up anymore, but most people haven’t asked that much since the internal meeting that was held after McMahon’s return last month where Nick Khan, Triple H, and Kevin Dunn had assured the talent that Vince will not be involved in creative operations or talent relations.

The only complaint making the rounds was the HARDY performance running longer than its allotted timeslot, thereby cutting into the time allocated for matches and other segments, along with some small transitional matters that the new regime will believably get accustomed to.
