After being shelved with a ruptured eardrum, Drew McIntyre made his highly-anticipated WWE return this week on SmackDown by saving Sheamus from the hands of Solo Sikoa and The Usos. McIntyre then joined Ridge Holland and Butch in forcing The Bloodline to retreat.
Soon after, WWE announced that McIntyre and Sheamus will challenge The Usos for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship on the inaugural SmackDown of 2023. This title match was originally scheduled for December 10, but McIntyre was replaced by Butch due to his ear injury, and The Usos retained in the process.
