At the 2023 Royal Rumble pay-per-view event, Sami Zayn turned on The Bloodline by attacking Roman Reigns with a steel chair. Things didn’t end well for the former Honorary Uce as The Tribal Chief, Solo Sikoa, Jimmy Uso destroyed Zayn in the middle of the ring while Jey Uso quit the faction.
This week on WWE SmackDown, Reigns accused Zayn of being greedy and using The Bloodline for his own benefit. Zayn interrupted the promo by emerging through the crowd and nailing The Tribal Chief with a vicious spear. The Underdog From Underdog then reached for a chair, but Reigns managed to escape.
Zayn then officially challenged Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title. Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa blindsided the former Honorary Uce as Reigns accepted the challenge.
Following the segment, WWE officially announced that Zayn would challenge Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the upcoming Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event.
