According to a report from Pwinsider, WWE is in the process of trying to hold on to the Chelsea Green ring name trademark. It was previously reported here on eWn that WWE was denied the Chelsea Green trademark last February. The United States Patent & Trademark Office wrote,
“Because the individual named in the mark did not sign the application and the application did not include a proper written consent, applicant must provide a statement that the name in the mark identifies a particular living individual and a written consent to register the name.”
Just several days ago on August 5, WWE replied to an Office Action and noted that WWE gave written consent to trademark the name. It should be noted that the letter WWE provided on August 5 was dated from November of 2020.
Green was released from the company back in April. Following her release, she started the process of trademarking her own ring name.
