On Friday’s edition of SmackDown, it was announced that Roman Reigns will be defending his WWE Universal Championship inside the Elimination Chamber. Much to Reigns’ dismay, Adam Pearce announced that Kevin Owens and Jey Uso would automatically be a part of the match. The remaining three participants would earn their spots through qualifying matches.
Later on, we learned that Sami Zayn and King Corbin were the next to qualify for the match, having defeated Rey and Dominik Mysterio. Also, Daniel Bryan and Cesaro qualified by defeating Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode.
