During Friday night’s edition of WWE SmackDown (or “Throwback SmackDown”), Cesaro defeated Seth Rollins to earn himself a WWE Universal Championship match against Roman Reigns after a little assist by The Uso’s following an exchange between the returning Jimmy Uso and Seth Rollins.
The show started out with a bit of a “eulogy” for the WWE career of Daniel Bryan following Bryan’s loss to Roman Reigns a week ago (in reality, Bryan’s contract has expired with WWE). Jimmy Uso came down to ringside, making his official WWE return and aligned himself with his brother Jey Uso and Roman Reigns.
Former SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long also made a surprise appearance by making the match with Cesaro and Seth Rollins a #1 Contenders match. Cesaro would then come out and exchange words with the trio before being attacked by his opponent for the night, Seth Rollins.
