Looking back at the peak of his feud with John Cena, AJ Styles opened up about a scrapped t-shirt idea he believes fans would have loved. When Styles arrived in WWE in 2016, he feuded with Cena throughout the summer. During that rivalry, AJ, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson repeated the phrase “Beat up John Cena!” so often that it nearly became a t-shirt.

However, during a Fanatics Live signing, Styles revealed that a powerful backstage influence ultimately stopped the idea. He strongly suggested through an impression that it was Vince McMahon.

“You know what? In the time everybody wanted me to beat up John Cena, it was amazing. I wanted a shirt that said ‘Beat Up John Cena.’ Somebody goes, [Vince McMahon impression] ‘We’re not going to do it.’ So, we didn’t. I’m sure some fans would’ve bought a ‘Beat Up John Cena’ shirt.”

Bron Breakker

Bron Breakker recently discussed his favorite Spears, including the one he delivered to Carlito on an episode of Monday Night Raw where he launched himself with such force that the Spear went viral. Even Carlito, a former WWE United States Champion, joked afterward that he had passed away.

During a recent appearance on The Ringer Wrestling Show, Bron Breakker was asked if that was his favorite Spear so far, or if it was the one where he hit both Dominik Mysterio and Carlito together.

“It’s tough to say. I always like running from a distance away,” he said. “The Carlito one is maybe more my favorite because we started doing that… when I first got called up, I remember one night I think I speared Sheamus or Kaiser outside of the ring. I was like, ‘Where am I coming from?’ There is usually a path to the side of the stage, and they were like, ‘You’re just going to come from the ramp.’ I wouldn’t have to slow down or jump a wall or anything.

Stu, legendary cameraman, he’s the man. I remember him catching me coming out. I just blew by him. I don’t know if the crew had already planned it or not, but it seemed like they were going to catch me on one, switch to the other guy, and catch the whole shot. It seemed like it was something that happened where I blew by Stu, and they were like, ‘Oh, we missed it.’ They went to this one up top, and that ended up becoming my thing. ‘Bron camera.’”
