Backstage Details On Jordynne Grace & Ethan Page’s WWE NXT Debuts

TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace and former AEW talent Ethan Page made surprise appearances on last night’s episode of WWE NXT.

Grace is set to challenge NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez for the title at NXT Battleground 2024.

Fightful is reporting that Grace is still under contract with TNA Wrestling, with approximately over a year left on her current deal. WWE reportedly kept Grace and Ethan Page hidden before the recent TV tapings, and the show was notably more secretive than usual.

Placeholder names such as Lita and Alexa Bliss were used during rehearsals and incomplete rundowns, with Lita’s theme even used as a placeholder during rehearsals. The NXT talents were pleasantly surprised by the announcement of Grace’s upcoming appearance on next week’s edition of NXT TV.

Perez was taken aback by Grace’s surprise debut, a development that had been desired for the previous night’s show. Perez had reportedly insisted on being kept in the dark regarding her NXT Battleground opponent. Therefore, her genuine reaction to Grace’s revelation as her new challenger was noteworthy.

Grace’s upcoming appearance at Battleground is part of an agreement, which stipulates a minimum of three appearances. This will encompass two advertised matches as well as last night’s appearance. Sources within NXT have disclosed that Grace is set to earn “at least six figures” for her NXT appearances.

Andrea Concepcion and Johnny Russo were reportedly responsible for orchestrating the TV segment featuring Grace. While NXT talent was unaware of the announcement, new NXT Superstar Ethan Page allegedly learned of it as he and Grace were together at Cezar Bononi’s residence before the reveals.

It is reported that the duo encountered each other before the announcement and became aware of their NXT debuts.

Furthermore, there is a possibility for future collaborations between NXT and TNA. Some concerns had arisen following Scott D’Amore’s recent departure from TNA, given his involvement in orchestrating Grace’s Royal Rumble appearance as he exited the company.

Nevertheless, sources within TNA have affirmed that communication lines between TNA and WWE remain open.
