WWE released several NXT talents earlier this month, including Valentina Feroz, Emma Diaz, Boa, Trey Bearhill, and Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson.

According to a recent report from Fightful Select, these releases were strategically timed to coincide with WWE SmackDown, and the talents were informed about the cuts before they occurred.

There was also confusion surrounding the release of some recruits from the WWE: Next Gen docuseries. Their formal deals with the promotion began after the show was taped, but they were allowed to announce their signings once the show aired several weeks later.

WWE NXT talents expressed that Feroz and Boa needed consistent opportunities to showcase their abilities due to struggling with injuries during their NXT tenures.

Meanwhile, Trey Bearhill’s release surprised many within NXT, and the notion that his release was related to similarities with Eddy Thorpe was reportedly refuted.

Gable Steveson’s release did not come as a surprise to several individuals within WWE NXT. One talent pointed out the developmental disparity between Steveson and his brother Damon Kemp. Those commenting on his release indicated that it resulted from Steveson’s lack of progression rather than his past legal issues.

The report also mentions that Drew Gulak is still with WWE, although he has been notified that his contract will not be renewed upon its expiration.
