Roman Reigns’ recent absence from WWE television has not gone unnoticed, fueling speculation about the future of “The Tribal Chief” following his brutal on-screen beatdown by Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker last month.
According to a report from Pwinsider, Reigns’ time away is part of WWE’s ongoing strategy to use him as a special attraction, akin to how Brock Lesnar has been utilized in recent years. The plan is to preserve his star power by keeping his appearances rare, with a major return anticipated as SummerSlam draws near.
Reigns’ last appearance came on the April 21st episode of WWE RAW, where he was written off TV following a dramatic segment. After a tense face-off with Paul Heyman, he was ambushed by Rollins and Breakker — Rollins delivered a devastating Stomp, followed by Breakker’s Spear, effectively taking Reigns out of action.
This limited schedule aligns with how WWE has handled Reigns in recent years. He wrestled only six matches in 2024 and has competed just three times so far in 2025. WWE continues to present him as a larger-than-life figure whose rare appearances elevate the stakes of any storyline he’s part of.
While WWE hasn’t officially confirmed his return, internal discussions suggest Reigns will have a major presence at SummerSlam. The August pay-per-view event is one of WWE’s biggest shows of the year, and Reigns is expected to be a central figure as the card takes shape.
Outside the ring, Reigns has been keeping busy with his expanding Hollywood career. He’s set to appear alongside Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson in The Pickup, an action-comedy premiering on Prime Video on August 6th. He’s also reportedly in talks for a role in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter film — further cementing his crossover appeal beyond the WWE Universe.
