Brock Lesnar may not have gone far in the world of the NFL, but Bill Goldberg respects the Beast Incarnate for making an attempt in football.

Lesnar pursued his NFL goals in 2004 after leaving WWE following his much-panned match with Goldberg in March at WWE WrestleMania 20.

While speaking with Scott Johnson of News 4 Jacksonville, Goldberg appreciated that Lesnar chased his dreams, even if it didn’t work out. He said,

“Yeah, you know, he gave it a shot for sure. I mean, he was a wrestler, never played football, and with that type of physical package, I mean, why not give it a shot? More power to him. That was unbelievable that he tried to accomplish that.”

Lesnar had not played football since high school before pursuing the NFL and garnered immediate interest from several teams.

After a groin injury, Lesnar signed with the Minnesota Vikings in July and played in pre-season games before being released in August 2004.

Lesnar was offered to play for the Vikings in NFL Europa, but turned the chance down to remain in the U.S. with his family. He returned to WWE in 2012.
