Booker T believes that WWE’s creative team made the right call by having Becky Lynch win the Women’s World Championship on this week’s episode of RAW.
Lynch won the vacated title in a battle royal in the main event. The title had been vacated by Rhea Ripley the week before due to an injury.
This title change has been met with backlash from some fans who believe Lynch didn’t need a ninth championship win that could have benefitted a different Superstar.
On a recent edition of his “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T responded to fan criticism to Lynch’s victory. He said,
“Being champion is a full-time responsibility; it’s like having a stethoscope on; you gotta be ready to go, on-call 24/7. And they [WWE] know they can trust Becky Lynch, and she’s proven as far as championship quality goes.
“You talking about somebody who don’t have any flaws? That’s Becky. You talking about someone who works so much bigger than she actually really is? That’s Becky. Man, Roxanne Perez can sit under that learning tree all day long, as far as I’m concerned, and all she’s gonna do is learn. So, for me, I think they made the right choice.”
Lynch had previously failed to dethrone Ripley for the WWE Women’s World Championship in the opening match of WWE WrestleMania 40 (Night One).
